The 2024 MLB All-Star Game is set to take place on Tuesday, July 16th, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, the home of the Texas Rangers. This will be the first time the defending World Series champions have hosted the All-Star Game since 1939 when the Yankees hosted the event at Yankee Stadium following their victory over the Cubs in the 1938 World Series.
The complete rosters for the All-Star Game were revealed on Sunday night. Fan voting determines the starting position players, while the remaining spots on the rosters are filled through player voting and selections by the commissioner’s office. The All-Star managers, Bruce Bochy for the Rangers and Torey Lovullo for the Diamondbacks, no longer have the authority to select players.
This year’s All-Star Game will feature a significant number of first-time pitchers, including Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Skenes, who was the first overall pick in one draft and made the All-Star Game in the following season, was named the National League starting pitcher by Lovullo. Despite his limited MLB experience, Skenes has been outstanding, most recently throwing seven no-hit innings with 11 strikeouts against the Brewers.
A total of 34 players, including reserves, will be making their first All-Star Game appearance this season. Notable veterans such as Jose Altuve and Salvador Perez will also be part of the All-Star rosters, with Mookie Betts making his eighth consecutive appearance. The Phillies lead the way with eight players selected, including stars like Bryce Harper and Alec Bohm. Various replacements have been added to the rosters due to injuries or other reasons, ensuring a competitive lineup for the game.
Below are the complete rosters for the 2024 All-Star Game. Please note that additional replacements may be made leading up to the event.
