The NBA Cup is making a comeback for its second year, and the group stage schedule is set to conclude on Tuesday night with a lineup of 11 games – eight of which will determine the teams advancing to the knockout stage. Key matchups to watch include Bucks vs. Pistons and Knicks vs. Magic in the East, and Suns vs. Spurs and Thunder vs. Jazz in the West. With five spots up for grabs in the eight-team knockout phase, Tuesday’s games will be crucial in determining the final contenders.
So far, the Rockets, Warriors, and Hawks have secured their spots in the knockout round.
The format of the NBA Cup involves all 30 teams participating, divided into six five-team groups for round-robin group play. These games have been taking place on Tuesdays and Fridays over the last three weeks, showcasing unique NBA Cup courts. The groups consist of Eastern Conference teams and Western Conference teams.
The winners of each group, based on round-robin record and point differential if necessary, along with one wild card from each conference (the team with the best record among non-group winners), will progress to the knockout stage. This stage will feature single-elimination matches leading up to the semifinals and final in Las Vegas.
Last year’s inaugural event, known as the NBA In-Season Tournament in 2023, exceeded expectations with players and teams fully invested in the competition. The Lakers emerged as champions, and Tyrese Haliburton made a name for himself as a standout player for the Pacers.
Below is the schedule for the remaining 2024 NBA Cup games. Group play will end on Tuesday night, with the knockout round commencing on Dec. 10 and culminating in the title game on Dec. 17 in Las Vegas.
