Céline Boutier leads the Olympic women’s golf tournament after a stellar performance in the opening round. The French golfer shot an impressive 7-under 65, which included five birdies on the back nine and a chip-in on the 16th hole, giving her a three-shot lead.

Ashleigh Buhai of South Africa is in second place with a solid 4-under 68, the only other round in the 60s on Wednesday.

Defending gold medalist Nelly Korda finished at even par and is currently tied for 13th. Despite a rocky start, Korda managed to bounce back with three birdies in her round.

American Rose Zhang also carded an even-par 72. Lilia Vu of the U.S. briefly held the lead but faltered towards the end, finishing at 2-under and tied for third after two late bogeys.

Peiyun Chien of Chinese Taipei delivered the highlight of the day with an eagle from 125 yards out on the 17th hole.
