Switzerland’s Morgane Metraux is leading the women’s golf tournament at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 after an impressive performance. She set an Olympic-record with a score of 8-under 28 on the front nine, including two eagles. Despite cooling off in the final nine holes, she finished at 8-under heading into the third round.
Yin Ruoning of China is closely behind Metraux in second place at 7-under after shooting a 65, the best round of the day.
Notable players like Céline Boutier of France and defending gold medalist Nelly Korda of the USA faced challenges in the tournament, but there is still plenty of golf left to play.
“Unfortunate that I played 16 holes of such solid golf, felt really good out there and the wind was just off my left,” Korda told Golf Channel about the 16th hole. “I didn’t hit my nine iron that great. I was between my pitching wedge and nine iron and went with the longer club. … If this would have happened on the fourth day, I would be really, really heartbroken, but I know I have 36 more holes to make something happen.”
Other players like Lydia Ko of New Zealand, Pia Babnik of Slovenia, and Mariajo Uribe of Colombia are also in contention after two rounds.
The women’s Olympic golf competition at Le Golf National promises exciting matchups and fierce competition as players aim for the gold medal.
