MONTREAL, QUEBEC - SEPTEMBER 27: Hideki Matsuyama of Japan and Sungjae Im of South Korea and the International Team look on from the tenth green during Friday Foursomes on day two of the 2024 Presidents Cup at The Royal Montreal Golf Club on September 27, 2024 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Looks like the International Team is not going down without a fight in this year’s Presidents Cup. After a tough loss in the previous round, they came back strong on Friday, led by Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im. The duo delivered a remarkable performance, defeating Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele by a record-breaking margin of 7&6.

Matsuyama and Im dominated the front nine, securing several key holes and putting immense pressure on their opponents. Their strong play continued after the turn, with the Internationals ultimately clinching the match by winning holes 10, 11, and 12.

This victory marked a significant turnaround for the International Team, as they were able to defeat a previously unbeatable American duo. The win, combined with other strong performances from International teams, signals a potential shift in momentum for the competition.

Interestingly, Cantlay and Schauffele, who were on the receiving end of this dominant performance, had a history of success in team competitions. However, they were unable to replicate their past performances in this match.

It’s worth noting that quick matches like this are not uncommon in the Presidents Cup, with several matches ending in 13 holes or fewer. This particular match will surely be remembered for the exceptional play displayed by Matsuyama and Im.
