U.S. Team takes the lead in the morning session
Saturday at the Presidents Cup was a thrilling day of golf as the United States managed to pull ahead of the Internationals in a closely contested battle. Despite a fog delay early in the day, both teams delivered an impressive performance, captivating the gallery with their skill and determination.
The morning session saw some intense matchups, with Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa securing a 2&1 victory over Adam Scott and Taylor Pendrith. The highlight of the match was Adam Scott’s incredible 27-foot putt to keep his team in the game.
Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim also impressed with a dominant 4&3 win over Wyndham Clark and Keegan Bradley, showcasing their strong chemistry on the course.
As the day progressed, Tony Finau and Xander Schauffele added another point for the U.S. Team by defeating Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes 3&2. The Americans continued their momentum in the final match of the morning, with Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns securing a hard-fought 2&1 victory over Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im.
Heading into the afternoon session, the United States held a narrow lead of 8-6.

The afternoon session provided some tense moments as the Internationals fought back to level the playing field. Matsuyama and Im initially looked poised to secure a win, but Russell Henley and Scheffler staged a remarkable comeback to claim a 3&2 victory.
In another close match, Pendrith and Scott managed to edge out Brian Harman and Max Homa with a 2 Up win, while Burns and Morikawa held off Conners and Hughes to secure another point for the U.S. Team.
The highlight of the afternoon came in the match between Cantlay, Schauffele, and the Kims, with a series of impressive shots and intense competition. Despite a valiant effort from the Internationals, the Americans managed to secure a 1 Up victory in the closing moments of the match.
With a four-point lead heading into the singles matches, the United States is now in a strong position to retain the Presidents Cup and make history once again.
