76ers’ season hits new low as Joel Embiid passes up wide-open go-ahead 3-pointer in loss to Raptors

This season has been a tough one for the Philadelphia 76ers, with injuries plaguing their key players. Despite signing star forward Paul George in free agency, the team has struggled to have their top players on the court together due to various injuries. Rookie of the Year candidate Jared McCain was also ruled out for the season in January. On top of that, opposing shooters have been making a high percentage of their 3-point shots against the 76ers.

Despite these challenges, the 76ers remain determined to push through and believe in their talent. General manager Daryl Morey expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete for a championship, even though they may have to fight hard to secure a playoff spot.

However, recent events have cast doubt on the team’s championship aspirations. A disappointing loss to the Toronto Raptors highlighted the struggles of the 76ers’ core players, particularly Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Paul George. Embiid’s decision to pass up a crucial shot late in the game drew comparisons to past painful losses for the team.

With a record of 20-33 and facing tough decisions ahead of the All-Star break, the 76ers may need to consider focusing on next season. Shutting down Embiid and regrouping for the future could be the best path forward for the struggling team.

As the season progresses, it’s clear that the 76ers need to address their issues and find a way to overcome their self-inflicted setbacks. With a top-six draft pick potentially on the line, the team must carefully navigate the remainder of the season to set themselves up for success in the future.
