Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim once again voiced his dissatisfaction with his team despite advancing to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The Red Devils narrowly defeated Leicester with a late goal from Harry Maguire, although it was marred by controversy.
The former Leicester defender scored in the dying seconds from an offside position, with the linesman failing to spot four United players also offside.
Amorim acknowledged the victory but acknowledged that the performance at Old Trafford was subpar, echoing a recurring theme in his post-match interviews this season.
He commented: “We had to keep believing until the end, but this match was not reminiscent of the Fergie era. We need to improve our performance both with and without the ball.
“We lacked energy, especially in the first half. However, in the second half, we showed some improvement, played with more intensity, and won more second balls. We managed to turn things around, resulting in a favorable outcome despite a lackluster performance.

“As the coach, I take full responsibility when the team underperforms. It is my duty to analyze and rectify our mistakes for the upcoming matches.
“Improvement lies in the details, such as ball control, ball retention under pressure, and overall game management. We need to address these aspects to enhance our overall performance.
“Despite the challenges, particularly at home, we must adapt and strive for better results in the next fixture.”
Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy expressed his frustration with the controversial decision, humorously referring to his team’s defeat in “offside time.”
He remarked: “Our defeat was not in Fergie time but in offside time.
“The decision was difficult to accept, as VAR could have rectified such a clear offside call. The team deserved a draw, and the match could have unfolded differently in extra time or penalties.
“We displayed a strong team performance, initiating the match well and maintaining stability in possession. Leading 1-0 at halftime was a deserved lead. Despite United’s pressure in the second half, we held our ground and deserved to push the game into extra time.
“Decisions of this nature are hard to swallow at our level of competition.”
