Reports suggest Barcelona have reached an agreement to transfer striker Vitor Roque to Palmeiras before the Brazilian transfer window closes next week.
Roque, who departed Barcelona in the summer due to limited playing time following his €30m move from Athletico Paranaense, signed with Betis on loan with a €25m buy option.
While Betis has yet to make a decision regarding Roque’s future, Palmeiras is keen on securing the 19-year-old’s services promptly.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Palmeiras is willing to meet Barcelona’s €25m asking price, contingent on Betis terminating the loan early.
Barcelona has reached out to Betis in an attempt to persuade them to release Roque, but their efforts have been met with resistance. Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini has expressed his desire to retain the young striker, especially since the European transfer window has closed.
Betis’ sporting director, Manu Fajardo, has also voiced his support for Roque staying at the club, diminishing Barcelona’s hopes for a quick sale.
As Barcelona awaits a resolution, Roque has been included in Betis’ squad for their upcoming match against Getafe. Pellegrini has discussed the situation but left the possibility of an early exit open.
“He is part of the squad for the upcoming match,” Pellegrini stated. “I am not sure about his future. I only know what the press reports. We will have to wait and see how things unfold.”
