Belal Muhammad speaks out about Palestine flag missing from UFC profile, can’t wait to carry flag for first title defense

Belal Muhammad has always proudly represented Palestine whenever he steps into the UFC octagon, but he recently noticed a missing detail on his profile page that he hopes will be rectified soon.

Athletes on the UFC website typically have flags from their home countries displayed next to their names, but Muhammad’s flag was left blank. The welterweight champion reached out to UFC CEO Dana White to address this issue, especially after advocating for fighters to carry flags to their fights once again.

In a Twitter video, Muhammad expressed his hope that the UFC would fix the oversight and include his flag next to his name, allowing those he represents and fights for to see their flag proudly displayed.

Born in the United States to Palestinian parents, Muhammad has been a vocal supporter of those affected by the conflict in Gaza. He has carried the Palestinian flag with him to the cage in previous fights, and he eagerly anticipated doing so for his upcoming title defense at UFC 315 in May.

Muhammad’s connection to Palestine runs deep, and he sees carrying the flag as a source of pride for his community. Winning the championship last July only reinforced his commitment to representing Palestine in the UFC.

The support and celebrations he received from people in Palestine after his title win further motivated Muhammad to continue fighting for his homeland on the world stage of the UFC.

He views the children in refugee camps as true heroes, finding inspiration in their resilience and gratitude for life despite their challenging circumstances.

Muhammad’s dedication to representing Palestine goes beyond just sporting events; it’s a way for him to uplift and inspire his community, especially the youth who look up to him as a role model.

His upcoming fight in May will not only be a title defense but also a statement of solidarity with Palestine and a reminder of the strength and resilience of its people.

Update: Muhammad has confirmed that the flag will be restored to his profile, ensuring that his representation of Palestine remains visible to all.
