Justin Thomas is fully committed to staying focused on his game amidst the ongoing negotiations between the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and LIV Golf. He believes that getting too involved in the negotiations would be mentally and physically draining.
Since the merger announcement in June 2023, talks have been ongoing, but there hasn’t been significant progress. President Donald Trump has recently joined the discussions, but there is still no concrete news on reunification.
Adam Scott, head of the player advisory council, highlighted the challenge of merging the different approaches of LIV and the PGA Tour to create a unified product.
Despite the distractions, Thomas remains focused on his game and is currently ranked No. 9 in the Official World Golf Rankings. He has had a successful season so far with three top-10 finishes and is eager to compete at The Players Championship.
While the Tour-LIV storyline continues to dominate the sport, Thomas is relieved that the negotiations are not consuming all conversations surrounding the tournament.
