NASCAR: Xfinity to end sponsorship of second-tier series after 2025 season

NASCAR’s Second-Tier Series to Find New Title Sponsor in 2026

Xfinity, the current sponsor of NASCAR’s second-tier series, will be stepping down from its sponsorship at the end of the 2025 season. Xfinity had been the title sponsor since 2014, when it signed a 10-year deal with NASCAR. However, the company has decided to end its sponsorship early, with the 2025 season being its last.

Despite this change, Xfinity will continue its partnership with NASCAR as a premier sponsor of the top-tier Cup Series. NASCAR has been without a title sponsor for the Cup Series since Monster Energy departed in 2019, but currently has Busch, Coca-Cola, and Xfinity as top-level sponsors.

The Xfinity Series, previously known as the Grand National Series, has a rich history dating back to 1984. Various sponsors, including Busch and Nationwide Insurance, have supported the series over the years.

As Xfinity exits as the title sponsor, the Xfinity Series will be moving to a new TV deal starting in 2025. All broadcasts will now be on the CW, as the network expands its sports portfolio to include ACC and Pac-12 events.

In addition to these changes, NASCAR has announced that Xfinity will sponsor a fastest lap program across all its series. This program will award an extra point to the driver with the fastest lap in a race, similar to the system used in F1.

However, concerns have been raised about the potential for race manipulation with this new program, especially in high-stakes situations like the playoffs. NASCAR will need to carefully monitor the implementation of this program to ensure fair competition.

The 2024 Cup Series season saw its share of controversy, with accusations of race manipulation in the penultimate race. NASCAR will need to address these issues and maintain the integrity of its races moving forward.
