Joe Pyfer explains why he missed his fight against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Mexico and vows to never return to the country.

In a statement on his Instagram stories, Pyfer expressed his frustration, stating, “I did everything right: I slept in a tent, I did all this work to still get sick.”

He went on to say, “I will never fight there again. Shit hole. Not going back.”

Despite the disappointment, Pyfer remains hopeful for a rematch with Gastelum in the future.

The UFC announced Pyfer’s withdrawal due to illness just hours before the event. Pyfer revealed that he fell ill after consuming food from a trusted source.

He explained, “A couple of hours later, I had the runs. I think I shit at least 10, 11 times.”

Pyfer made the decision, along with medical advice, to withdraw from the fight for his own health and well-being.

Gastelum, who was set to make his middleweight return, expressed disappointment at the turn of events.

Pyfer remains optimistic about a future bout with Gastelum, confident in his ability to defeat him.

He stated, “We deserve to fight. It’s an entertaining fight… he bangs, I bang, and [I hope] in the future we can run it back.”

Despite the setback, Pyfer is determined to make a comeback and put on a show for his fans.
