The Los Angeles Dodgers are the second-richest team in MLB, situated in the country’s second-largest market. With an international superstar who brings in significant revenue, a constant flow of young talent from their talent pipeline, and access to cutting-edge technology, they are a force to be reckoned with.
While some may view their success as unfair, Bryce Harper has a different perspective.
Before facing off against the reigning World Series champions, Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies had nothing but praise for the Dodgers organization. In a recent statement via On Pattison, he expressed:
“I don’t know if people will like this, but I feel like only losers complain about what they’re doing. I think they’re a great team. They’re a great organization. That’s why guys want to go over there and play. L.A. is a great city to play in, obviously. They’re the Mecca of the world of everything, from food to nightlife to sports, the Dodgers to the Lakers to anybody.
“They’re going to continue to get guys. They’re going to continue to pull guys from the sport. Bullpen, starting pitching, international players, anything like that.”

Harper, a long-time Los Angeles Lakers fan, also has a history with the Dodgers, having been offered a contract by them before ultimately signing with the Phillies for a higher average annual value.
Having made his MLB debut at Dodger Stadium, Harper recently completed his seventh season with the Phillies, leading them to a strong start with a 5-1 record before defeating the Dodgers in a 3-2 victory.
The Dodgers, projected by Fangraphs to have the largest payroll in MLB history at $390 million, are a dominant force in the league. Their recent successes, including their 2024 World Series title and impressive offseason acquisitions, have solidified their position as a powerhouse in MLB.
Despite a loss to the Phillies, the Dodgers remain favorites to become the first repeat champions since the 2000 New York Yankees, showcasing their strength and determination in the league.
