The Global Fight League has made the tough decision to cancel its inaugural events scheduled for May 24 and May 25 in Los Angeles, sparking doubts about the future of the promotion.
California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster has confirmed the cancellation of both events at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. This news has been corroborated by sources close to the fighters slated to compete on the card.
While discussions are ongoing about potentially rescheduling the events for a later date in 2025, the uncertainty surrounding the promotion’s launch may cause fighters to reconsider their involvement with GFL.
Initially set to debut in April, GFL’s launch was pushed back to May in Los Angeles. With the recent cancellations, the fate of the organization hangs in the balance.
Under the leadership of former PFL executive Darren Owen, GFL wasted no time in signing top talent to its roster ahead of the planned 2025 launch.
Notable fighters like Tony Ferguson, Dillon Danis, and Holly Holm were set to headline the first two cards, showcasing the star power GFL had managed to attract.
