Justin Thomas ended his winless streak by defeating Andrew Novak in a playoff at the RBC Heritage, marking his first victory since the 2022 PGA Championship. The celebration on the green was massive after Thomas sank a 21-foot birdie putt to seal the win.

Thomas and Novak had to replay the 18th hole on Sunday night, where Novak missed a potential winning birdie putt. In the playoff, Novak struggled with his approach shot, giving Thomas the opportunity to secure the victory with a birdie putt.

Thomas had an impressive week, starting with a course-record-matching 61 on Thursday. Despite facing challenges like a one-shot penalty and a risky shot out of muddy water, Thomas stayed in contention and ultimately took the solo lead with a birdie on the 15th hole.

In the playoff, Thomas emerged victorious, earning a $3.6 million check and joining the ranks of elite PGA Tour players with multiple wins and major championships.

Novak, ranked 62nd in the world, came close to his first PGA Tour win but fell short in the playoff. Thomas’ win ends a long winless drought marked by close calls and near misses in recent years.

Thomas reflected on his winless streak, attributing it to pressing too hard and not trusting his game. However, by trusting his abilities and committing to his game plan, Thomas was able to secure the long-awaited victory.
