Jurgen Klopp’s plan for managerial return revealed after Real Madrid snub

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not expected to take on a new club or national team until the summer of 2026 at the earliest, as per a recent report.

The esteemed German coach decided to step away from his role at Anfield at the end of last season, citing exhaustion after 23 years in management with minimal breaks. Klopp surprised many by taking up the position of Red Bull’s global head of soccer earlier this year, where he operates in a more supervisory capacity.

Despite this, there have been rumors of Klopp returning to active coaching. Real Madrid was reportedly interested in the 57-year-old as a potential replacement for Carlo Ancelotti, who has faced criticism after Real Madrid’s Champions League exit.

Klopp’s agent quickly dismissed the speculation, stating that his client “is very content in his new role”. While a move to Madrid seems unlikely, there are bound to be future opportunities that could see Klopp linked to managerial positions.

The Telegraph reports that Klopp’s current career plan revolves around Red Bull. If he does return to coaching – a possibility rather than a certainty at this stage – it won’t be until 2026.

The timeline, post-2026 World Cup, suggests a potential move into international management – an option that has been labeled as Klopp’s “most likely choice”. Germany, his home country, has been a long-standing destination for Klopp, with the US and England also mentioned as possible future employers.

USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino has hinted at a return to Tottenham Hotspur, and like England’s Thomas Tuchel, the Argentine coach will be available after the upcoming World Cup.
