Bologna secures spot in Coppa Italia final after dominant win over Empoli
Bologna secured their place in the Coppa Italia final for the first time in 51 years with a comfortable victory over Empoli. Leading 3-0 from the first leg, Vincenzo Italiano’s side never looked in danger as they cruised to a 2-1 win on the night.
Giovanni Fabbian opened the scoring early on with a header before Viktor Kovalenko equalized for Empoli. However, Bologna sealed the win late on as Thijs Dallinga headed home Charalampos Lykogiannis’ cross.
In other football news, Atletico Madrid extended their lead over Athletic Bilbao in La Liga with a routine 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano. Alexander Sorloth, Conor Gallagher, and Julian Alvarez were on target for Diego Simeone’s side.
Meanwhile, Real Betis moved into the Champions League places with a 5-1 thrashing of Valladolid, while Leganes remain in the relegation zone despite a late equalizer against Girona.
Lastly, Osasuna secured a 1-0 victory over Sevilla thanks to Ruben Garcia’s goal. The La Liga action continues to heat up as the season progresses.
