The Minnesota Timberwolves managed to secure a crucial 2-1 lead in their first-round NBA playoffs series against the Los Angeles Lakers, surviving a challenging night of LeBron James Classic. Following a tough Game 2 loss, the Timberwolves bounced back with a 116-104 victory in Game 3, thanks to stellar performances from Jaden McDaniels and Anthony Edwards who scored 30 and 29 points respectively. The upcoming Game 4 is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday at the Target Center.

The Lakers faced difficulties with Luka Dončić battling a stomach bug, limiting his impact on the game. Despite this, James delivered an outstanding performance with 38 points, setting an NBA record for playoff scoring among players older than 40. However, the Timberwolves’ strong defense and clutch plays from Edwards and Naz Reid sealed the victory, preventing the Lakers from scoring a field goal in the final minutes.

After a disappointing Game 2, the Timberwolves made significant improvements in Game 3, shooting 48.4% from the field and committing only eight turnovers. In contrast, the Lakers struggled with turnovers and struggled to contain the Timberwolves’ offense.

Looking ahead to Game 4, the Timberwolves hold the momentum and an opportunity to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. Meanwhile, the Lakers will be hoping for a healthier Dončić to boost their chances of tying the series.
