The aftermath of the 2022 UFC betting scandal is still sending shockwaves through the world of combat sports. Jeff Molina and Darrick Minner, two UFC fighters closely associated with the controversy surrounding James Krause’s alleged irregular betting activities, are at the center of the storm. Both Molina and Minner trained under Krause at Glory Kickboxing & Fitness and had him as their head coach.

Molina, in his first public statement in over a year, appeared on “The Ariel Helwani Show” on Tuesday to discuss the events that led to his three-year suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission. He admitted to placing a bet on the Minner fight, which ultimately resulted in his suspension.

The scandal unfolded when the betting lines drastically shifted on the day of Minner’s fight against Shayilan Nuerdanbieke in 2022. Minner lost the fight in 67 seconds and was later suspended for failing to disclose a torn ACL. Molina revealed that he had bet on Minner to lose the fight, and speculated that the leaked information about Minner’s injury came from someone within the Glory gym.

Despite the controversy and his suspension, Molina expressed regret for his actions and acknowledged that he should have stopped betting when the UFC prohibited it. He is currently serving his suspension and has been informed that he will not be able to compete in the UFC in the future. As a result, he has requested his release and announced his signing with BKFC.

Krause, the coach at the center of the scandal, has been sidelined from coaching UFC fighters and is now focusing on his real estate business. Molina defended Krause’s coaching abilities and lamented that his legacy has been tarnished by the scandal.
