Canelo Alvarez vs. Terrance Crawford Confirmed for September 12
The highly anticipated boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Terrance Crawford has been officially announced. Ring Magazine confirmed the blockbuster title fight following Canelo’s recent victory over William Scull. The two fighters faced off in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia immediately after the bout.
Set to take place on September 12 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Canelo vs. Crawford will be contested at super-middleweight, with the Ring, WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO titles on the line.
UFC CEO Dana White will be promoting the event under TKO Boxing, a collaboration between UFC’s parent company TKO and Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh. This marks the inaugural event for the TKO Boxing brand.
“We will deliver the fight of the century with Riyadh Season on Sept. 12 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium,” Alalshikh announced on Twitter. “The legend Canelo defends his Ring Magazine title vs. the great Terence Crawford. TV platform will be announced soon with big surprise. My brother Dana White will promote this first TKO boxing event with me. It will be something crazy.”
The matchup between Canelo Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) is expected to be one of the biggest fights in boxing history.
Both fighters are considered pound-for-pound greats, with Canelo holding multiple super middleweight titles and Crawford being undefeated in his career. Canelo’s recent win over Scull extended his winning streak, while Crawford’s last fight in August resulted in a unanimous decision victory.
