After a cryptic tweet hinted at tensions between former UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira and the organization, Pereira clarified that his X account was hacked, dispelling any rumors of retirement.
Fans were puzzled by a post on Pereira’s account suggesting discord with the UFC, which quickly went viral.
“I always answered the UFC’s calls, but if they want to play with me, we can do that. I’ve never spoken poorly of the UFC but with what I’ve just heard I’m disheartened. I’ve already had thoughts of not fighting anymore, and after what was just relayed to me this may be the start.”
Shortly after, Pereira took to Instagram to address the situation in a video.
“Well, everyone, I’ve received a ton of messages from everyone who saw a post on my Twitter,” he said. “I didn’t know about it, I was hacked. It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, you guys see, but I was hacked and I’ll resolve it.
“I don’t even know what’s going on,” Pereira added. “I have a great relationship with the UFC. People like to do bad things, that’s that. Chama.”
Pereira recently lost his light heavyweight title to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 in March, sparking talks of a potential rematch, although no official announcement has been made by the UFC.
Despite the controversial nature of his title win, Ankalaev has been actively calling out Pereira on social media.
A few days later, Ankalaev hinted at a rematch, suggesting Pereira may not be interested after agreeing to a proposed date in August.
Ankalaev continued to imply failed negotiations in late April, tagging Pereira and questioning his fighting spirit.
Since joining the UFC in 2021, Pereira quickly rose to fame, defeating Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title before moving up to light heavyweight and claiming the title by knocking out Jiri Prochazka.

Despite his recent loss, Pereira had notable wins against top contenders and was eyeing potential matchups against Jon Jones and Dricus du Plessis.
With the misunderstanding cleared up, fans eagerly await Pereira’s next fight announcement.
