It was bound to happen eventually.
Following two incredible 20-point comebacks by the New York Knicks against the Boston Celtics last week, the Celtics knew they had to step up their game in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals at Madison Square Garden.

This time, Boston took an early lead and never looked back, securing a 115-93 victory to narrow the series gap to 2-1 in favor of the Knicks.
The Celtics showed improvement by maintaining their focus and intensity throughout the game, especially on the offensive end where they shot 12 of 19 from beyond the arc in the first half and finished 20 of 40 for the game.
Boston continued to dominate, building a 30-point lead in the third quarter. This time, they managed to hold onto their advantage, with five players scoring in double figures. Payton Pritchard led the charge with 23 points, including five 3-pointers, while Jayson Tatum contributed 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Although shooting was a key factor in Game 3, the Celtics also showcased their defensive prowess with eight blocks and six steals, demonstrating a renewed energy and determination.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 27 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns struggled with his shooting but managed to contribute 21 points and 15 rebounds, thanks in part to his impressive free-throw shooting.
Despite injuring his finger during the game, Towns soldiered on and finished the game, although he appeared to be in discomfort at times. The extent of his injury remains uncertain.
Game 4 is scheduled for Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET in New York.
