Staying relevant in the UFC is no easy task, especially as time and competition take their toll on even former champions. For some, a new path must be forged, whether that means going out on top or transitioning to different arenas. One such veteran, Andrei Arlovski, a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, is set to make his bare-knuckle debut at BKFC 76 on June 21 in Texas, as announced by BKFC on Instagram.

At 46 years old, the phrase “leaving the gloves behind” in the caption of the Instagram post carries weight, hinting that this bout could potentially mark the end of Arlovski’s illustrious career. His last fight was a TKO victory at DX 1, a smaller event that helped him regain momentum before stepping into the BKFC spotlight.

Arlovski’s UFC journey began in 2000, culminating in him becoming the interim heavyweight champion in 2005 and later the undisputed champ. With over 40 UFC fights under his belt, including wins over notable opponents like Fabricio Werdum and Frank Mir, Arlovski has remained a prominent figure in the heavyweight division well into his 40s, earning a reputation for his longevity and heart.

Facing off against Arlovski will be Geronimo Dos Santos, a fellow former UFC heavyweight known for his knockout power and aggressive fighting style. Dos Santos, who was once scheduled to fight in the UFC in 2012 but ultimately released from his contract due to medical issues, has already tasted victory in the BKFC ring.

As these two former UFC heavyweights prepare to clash, fans eagerly anticipate whether this bout will signify the end or a potential rebirth of their legendary fighting careers.
