The Atlanta Hawks made a significant move at the start of the offseason by trading Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans. The deal, reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, involves the Pelicans sending Larry Nance Jr. and two first-round picks to the Hawks in exchange for Murray. Additionally, New Orleans is including Dyson Daniels in the trade.

With this move, Murray will join Zion Williamson in the Pelicans’ backcourt, while Trae Young may continue to lead the Hawks alongside Zaccharie Risacher. Speculation had been rife about a potential trade involving one of the guards, and Murray’s availability seemed to attract interest from other teams.
As the Hawks focus on building a promising young core, the Pelicans are aiming for immediate success, possibly with or without Brandon Ingram. This trade signifies different strategies for both teams as they look to strengthen their rosters for the upcoming season.
