We are still a month away from the 2024 MLB Trade Deadline, but it’s never too early for possible trade names to be floated around. With the Blue Jays’ struggles this season and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. becoming an unrestricted free agent following the conclusion of the 2025 MLB season, he’s a prime candidate for a trade this summer. Guerrero had a slower start to the season but he’s showcased over the past week why he could be a huge addition in a pennant race.
Guerrero has four home runs over his last six games, so he’s certainly one to consider when making MLB DFS picks. Who else from the MLB DFS player pool should factor into your MLB DFS strategy with a full slate on Friday night? Before locking in any MLB DFS picks for Friday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

Anybody who included him in their lineups was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Friday
One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Friday is Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. at $6,600 on DraftKings and $4,200 on FanDuel. The 24-year-old enters on a four-game hitting streak as he’s becoming one of the most dynamic players in the sport already with his rare combination of power and speed.
Witt’s metrics are nearly off the chart as his .320 xBA (expected batting average) is better than 99% of the sport and his .596 xSLG (expected slugging percentage) is better than 98% of the league. His average exit velocity and barrel percentage is at the 93 percentile with his hard-hit rate at the 90th percentile. He’s not a cheap option in the MLB DFS player pool, but he’s having an even better season than his traditional stats would indicate.
McClure is also targeting Tigers second baseman Colt Keith ($2,600 on both FanDuel and DraftKings). Keith has at least one hit in six of his last eight games, including going 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored on Sunday. The rookie second baseman was a fifth-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft and made the Opening Day roster this year for his MLB debut.
The Tigers had so much faith in Keith that they signed him to a long-term contract to buy out arbitration even before his MLB debut. The 22-year-old left-handed hitter signed a six-year, $28.6 million contract in January before his debut this spring. Zach Plesac is the probable starter for the Angels against the Tigers on Friday and the right-handed pitcher has an 8.68 ERA over his first two starts of the season. Left-handed hitters are batting .364 with a 1.346 OPS against Plesac this season as this could be a strong matchup for Keith to provide value at his price tag for MLB DFS lineups.
