INDIANAPOLIS – WWE and Indiana Sports Corp have announced that three major wrestling events are set to take place in Indianapolis. The Royal Rumble, which marks the beginning of the road to WrestleMania XLI, will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time ever on Feb. 1, 2025.
The wrestling community in Indiana has experienced significant growth over the past decade, and the eight-year partnership between WWE and Indiana Sports Corp is set to elevate the entertainment industry in the city to new heights. Two upcoming events, a two-night SummerSlam and a two-night WrestleMania, are in the works, with an estimated economic impact of $300 million. This will be the first time Indianapolis hosts WrestleMania since 1992.
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque has credited former Colts punter Pat McAfee for spearheading the efforts to bring these events to Indy. McAfee, a former NFL player turned WWE personality, has been instrumental in advocating for Indianapolis as a wrestling hub.
“Indianapolis should be thanking Pat McAfee,” Levesque said. “The reason we are here, the reason for all of it — Pat McAfee has got us there.”
McAfee’s passion for wrestling and his advocacy for Indianapolis as a host city for WrestleMania has been unwavering. His efforts were highlighted during WWE Fastlane where he passionately spoke about the city’s deserving nature.
“Indianapolis, Indiana has deserved a WrestleMania,” McAfee emphasized during his opening monologue at WWE Fastlane.
The recent Monday Night Raw held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse saw Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton among the enthusiastic crowd cheering on their favorite wrestlers. The event witnessed a title change in the main event, thrilling the 12,269 fans in attendance.
