MLB insider takes shots at Red Sox ownership ahead of MLB trade deadline

With just about a month left until the MLB trade deadline, many teams are still deciding whether to buy, sell, or stay put.

The Boston Red Sox have been on a hot streak, winning 13 of their last 16 games. This success has some, like MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, suggesting that they should consider buying at the deadline.

Rosenthal recently discussed the Red Sox’s situation on “Foul Territory,” pointing out that the team has exceeded expectations and hinting at the need for ownership to make a move.

“It’s a crucial moment for the Red Sox,” Rosenthal remarked. “They have outperformed initial projections, and it’s time for ownership to step up and support their players and manager.”

“If the Red Sox fail to make a move, it could spell trouble for Alex Cora and the team’s morale,” he added.

It’s no secret that Red Sox ownership has been hesitant to go all-in on winning, even going as far as to downplay fan expectations. The front office, too, may be reluctant to part ways with promising prospects.

However, failing to bolster the team at the deadline could have consequences, including the potential departure of Cora and a negative impact on player morale.
