The Boston Red Sox have been having a great run lately, but all eyes are on their trio of prospects in Double-A Portland – Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kyle Teel.
These three prospects, all ranked in Baseball America’s top 50 earlier this month, are considered the future of the Red Sox organization, with fans eagerly placing their trust in them.
In addition, Kristian Campbell, a versatile prospect, was recently promoted to Portland in early June and has been on fire ever since, boasting a .417 average, 1.206 OPS, four home runs, 25 RBIs, and three stolen bases in just 19 games.
Campbell’s impressive performance has even drawn comparisons to a baseball legend from one of his teammates. “At this point, we’re almost surprised when he gets out,” said Anthony. “We call him Barry Bonds. What he’s done here so far, we’re just like, it’s Barry Bonds.”
It’s truly exciting to see Campbell’s rapid progress after being drafted in the fourth round last year. At just 22 years old, he currently ranks as the No. 10 prospect in the Red Sox system on SoxProspects and is likely to climb even higher in the upcoming July rankings.
