Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Brooks Lee leads hitter pickups

Looking for some help on the fantasy baseball waiver wire in Week 15? Dalton Del Don has identified some top widely available hitters worth adding to your roster.

Brooks Lee, SS, Minnesota Twins (38% rostered)

Brooks Lee, a switch-hitting shortstop for the Minnesota Twins, is filling in for the injured Royce Lewis at third base. The eighth overall pick in the 2022 draft from Cal Poly, Lee has been hitting well since his call-up, recording a hit in all five games with six RBI. While he excels in batting average and plate discipline, his fantasy potential is limited due to his lack of power and speed.

Lee is set to gain third base eligibility soon and will benefit from batting in a strong Minnesota lineup that ranks fourth in runs scored this season.

Outman was recently called up by the Los Angeles Angels after Jason Heyward was placed on the IL. With impressive numbers in Triple-A, including 16 homers/steals over 147 at-bats and a .924 OPS, Outman is expected to be a regular in the Angels’ lineup against right-handed pitchers. Known for his defensive skills, Outman hit 23 homers and stole 16 bases in just 483 at-bats last season. He will thrive in the league’s best lineup with a 121 wRC+.

García, despite his hot start in July with a .500 batting average, three homers, and a steal, is still available in many fantasy leagues. His current pace against right-handed pitchers includes 26 home runs, 23 stolen bases, and 99 RBI while batting .294. With improved power, speed, and elite contact skills, García should be owned in most fantasy leagues.

Keith has shown promise with three homers and a steal in his last four games, batting .316 with a .919 OPS over his last 20 games. Although he struggles against lefties, Keith has been hitting second in Detroit’s lineup in most of his recent starts. At just 22 years old, there is room for growth as he continues to adjust to major league pitching.

Kjerstad is a speculative add due to uncertain playing time but holds great potential if he secures an everyday role. Despite his strikeout issues, he has excelled in Triple-A and leads all hitters in average exit velocity over the last 10 days. Playing in hitter-friendly Camden Yards, Kjerstad could benefit from the park’s tendencies to increase home runs for left-handed batters and reduce strikeouts.

The second overall pick in the 2020 draft, Kjerstad has the talent to establish himself as a regular starter in the crowded Baltimore outfield.
