Unfortunately, New York Yankees’ standout Juan Soto had to be removed from the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon due to a hand injury.
Soto was initially set to play in Saturday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays, but just before the game began, he was scratched from the lineup due to a right hand bruise he suffered while sliding into home plate during Friday’s game.
An update from the Yankees mentioned that Soto will undergo imaging later in the day to assess the extent of the injury.
As a result of Soto’s absence, Oswaldo Cabrera took his place in right field, while rookie Ben Rice moved up to the No. 2 spot in the batting order.
Despite the injury, Soto had a strong performance in Friday’s game, hitting a three-run home run after sustaining the bruise on his right hand.
Throughout the season, Soto has been a standout player for the Yankees, boasting a .302 batting average, 20 home runs, 60 RBI, 69 walks, and a 1.004 OPS in 81 games.
