Marc Cucurella Responds to Gary Neville’s Criticism
After being doubted by Gary Neville, Marc Cucurella proved his critics wrong with stellar performances during Euro 2024. Neville had suggested that Cucurella’s presence in the Spanish team could hinder their chances of winning the tournament, but the left-back showcased some of his best football in Germany.
Cucurella played a key role in Spain’s success, starting all games except one and providing the match-winning assist in the final against England.
In response to Neville’s criticism, Cucurella took to social media after lifting the trophy, writing, “We went all the way, Gary. Thanks for your support.”
Prior to the final, Cucurella addressed Neville’s remarks in an interview with Mundo Deportivo. He also made a bold promise to dye his hair red if Spain lifted the trophy.
Cucurella emphasized the importance of respect in his response to Neville, stating, “I think we have one last step left and hopefully we can lift that cup. Then it will be our turn to speak.”
Despite his struggles at Chelsea, where he joined in 2022 for a substantial fee, Cucurella has shown resilience and improvement, working with a psychologist to boost his confidence.
