Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami, who is currently recovering from surgery, made an interesting revelation about why star batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma avoid facing him in net sessions. Shami, known for his pace and skill, shared insights into his interactions with the two prolific Indian batsmen.
Shami is currently on the sidelines due to an Achilles Tendon injury, causing him to miss out on the IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup 2024.
During a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Shami discussed his experiences facing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in net sessions.

What Mohammad Shami revealed about net sessions with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli
Shami disclosed that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli prefer not to face him during net sessions. “Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli do not like facing me in the nets. I have heard in quite a few interviews, but they do not like facing me during net sessions. Rohit says upfront, that ‘I am not facing you’. Even Virat gets provoked when dismissed twice,” Shami humorously shared about his encounters with the two top batters.
Shami’s bond with Virat Kohli
Shami also spoke about his competitive bond with Virat Kohli. He mentioned how Kohli always aims to hit boundaries off him, while Shami strives to dismiss the batter. “I and Virat always challenge each other. He likes playing silky shots, while I always aim to get him out during the nets. The bonding and friendship is very evident. It takes effort and focus to get your friends out in the nets,” Shami praised his camaraderie with Virat Kohli.
