The first set was closely contested, with Nadal and Alcaraz eventually securing a tiebreak victory after a back-and-forth battle with Gonzalez and Molteni. Despite a strong start in the second set by the Argentine pair, Nadal and Alcaraz responded brilliantly by winning six of the next seven games to advance to the next round.
Nadal and Alcaraz are set to face either the Dutch team of Wesley Koolhof and Tallon Griekspoor or the Hungarian duo of Fábián Marozsán and Márton Fuscovics in their upcoming match.
Alcaraz, a rising star in tennis, is competing in his first Olympics after recent successes at Wimbledon and the French Open. On the other hand, Nadal, a veteran of the sport, has faced challenges due to injuries in recent years but has a rich history of Olympic success, including gold medals in singles and doubles events.
Both players are also participating in the singles tournament, with Alcaraz already securing a victory and Nadal scheduled to compete in his first-round match soon.
