World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has kicked off her quest for a gold medal in Paris. She secured a convincing victory over Diane Parry of France with a score of 6-1, 6-1 in just 74 minutes at Roland Garros.

Swiatek demonstrated her strategic prowess by capitalizing on Parry’s weaknesses from the outset. She particularly exploited Parry’s second serve, gaining an upper hand throughout the match. Parry struggled to win points off her second serve, allowing Swiatek to maintain control. Additionally, Swiatek strategically targeted Parry’s forehand, which, despite being her strongest shot, proved to be less accurate overall.

Throughout the match, Swiatek kept Parry on the defensive, forcing her to play reactively. Despite Parry’s efforts to avoid a complete shutout in the first set, Swiatek dominated the court, with Parry managing to win only one game. The pattern repeated in the second set, with Parry winning only one game when her first serve was effective.

Known for her exceptional performance at Roland Garros, Swiatek has established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the tennis world. Having clinched multiple French Open titles, Swiatek’s success on the clay courts is unparalleled. With this latest triumph, Swiatek has surpassed her previous Olympic record, advancing to the third round where she will face either Diana Shnaider or Xiyu Wang.
