Blake Snell’s first victory with the San Francisco Giants was a historic one as he threw a no-hitter at Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park, leading the Giants to a 3-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds. This marked the first no-hitter of Snell’s career and the 18th in Giants history.

The 31-year-old left-hander had 11 strikeouts and only allowed three runners on base via walks while throwing 114 pitches in the game. Despite never completing a full eight innings on the mound before, Snell remained confident in the eighth and ninth innings, ultimately securing the no-hitter.

Snell’s teammates joined in the celebration, albeit a bit enthusiastically with the water cooler during his postgame interview. This no-hitter was the third of the season in the league, with the Giants’ last no-hitter dating back nearly a decade.

Snell had a strong performance throughout the game, with 96 pitches through seven innings, leading to speculation about being pulled for the final two. However, Snell returned for the eighth and ninth innings, keeping his no-hit bid alive and completing the historic feat.

This achievement was especially significant for Snell, who is in his first season with the Giants after battling injuries. The two-time Cy Young Award winner expressed his satisfaction with his progress in recent starts and emphasized the significance of achieving a no-hitter in his career.

The Giants’ offense contributed to the win with early runs, including home runs from Casey Schmitt and Tyler Fitzgerald. With this victory, the Giants have won six of their last seven games and are inching closer to a .500 record on the season.

As the Giants continue their series with the Reds, they aim to maintain their momentum and improve their standing in the NL West standings. The Reds, on the other hand, are looking to bounce back from recent losses and climb the NL Central standings.
