Wednesday night saw the Boston Red Sox facing off against the Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park, where they secured a 3-2 victory in the series finale.
The Red Sox’s pitching staff delivered a strong performance, led by Brayan Bello who started the game. The 25-year-old pitcher allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over 6 1/3 innings. Lucas Sims made his Red Sox debut, pitching 2/3 of an inning and only giving up a walk. Josh Winckowski, Kenley Jansen, and Zack Kelly each contributed a scoreless inning to secure the win.
While the Red Sox’s offense was not at its best, they managed to score crucial runs. Masataka Yoshida (0-for-2 with a walk) scored on a wild pitch in the first inning. Danny Jansen (2-for-4) drove in the game-tying run with a single in the sixth. Rafael Devers (3-for-5) sealed the victory in the 10th inning with a walk-off double off the wall.
With this win, the Red Sox’s record now stands at 57-50 overall and 27-28 at home. The team will enjoy a day off on Thursday before facing the Texas Rangers in a series beginning on Friday.
