Joshua Kimmich discusses uncertain Bayern Munich future

Joshua Kimmich has acknowledged the possibility of leaving Bayern Munich this summer amidst increasing transfer rumors.

The versatile midfielder, who has been with Bayern since 2015, had a decent season with 43 appearances, scoring two goals and providing 10 assists mainly from the right-back position. Bayern had a disappointing season finishing third, with Bayer Leverkusen clinching the Bundesliga title.

Kimmich’s contract with Bayern runs until 2025, but his future remains uncertain. He has been linked with clubs like Arsenal, Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, hinting at a potential move this summer.

During Bayern’s pre-season tour, Kimmich mentioned that he is open to offers from other clubs this summer.

“You can always talk to each other reasonably,” he said. “All doors are open to everyone.

“Generally speaking, I feel really comfortable here. All my kids were born here, we built a house. Of course, last season wasn’t so successful, that’s not what Bayern and I want. Now I’m hungry, full of energy.”

For Kimmich, the chance to remain at Bayern could be interesting, with new coach Kompany set to bring a new feel to the German side. He’s admitted that he sees his future back in central midfield, a position which he could occupy under the former Burnley manager, after starting alongside Aleksandar Pavlovic in Bayern’s pre-season victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Bayern kick off their Bundesliga season against Wolfsburg on 25 August as they commence their journey in trying to steal the title back from Leverkusen.
