Olympic Basketball Tournament Format Explained
Both the men’s and women’s tournaments at the 2024 Paris Olympics will feature 12 countries divided into groups of four. Each team will face off against the other three countries in their group. The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-place teams, will progress to the eight-team knockout stage.
A draw will determine the quarterfinal matchups based on seeding, ensuring that teams from the same group do not compete against each other in the initial knockout round. The knockout stage will follow a standard single-elimination bracket format to determine the gold medalist.
