Tom Aspinall believes Stipe Miocic should learn from the 46th President of the United States.
Despite calls to cancel Miocic’s upcoming title fight against Jon Jones, UFC CEO Dana White remains committed to the bout, citing respect for both fighters and the rebooking of the match after a previous cancellation.
Aspinall, who won the interim heavyweight title at UFC 295 and defended it at UFC 304, is now only interested in a title unification bout. He expressed frustration at waiting for Jones and Miocic.
“Get Stipe out of there,” Aspinall stated in an interview. “The guy is 43 years old, he’s had a four-year layoff, and his last fight was a knockout loss. He needs to be pulled out of the race.”
“The guy needs to be Joe Biden’d, mate. He’s too old. No one’s that interested anymore. Pull him out, stick me in. It’s right though, isn’t it? It is right.”
Miocic, who is set to turn 42, has not fought since losing his title in 2021.
Aspinall compared Miocic’s inactivity to Alex Pereira’s impressive achievements in a shorter timeframe, suggesting Miocic should step aside for younger talent.
Drawing a parallel to Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race, Aspinall emphasized the need for Miocic to assess his position in the sport.
Aspinall’s remarks may be unconventional, but he believes Miocic should consider stepping back for the upcoming title fight against Jones.
“Get Joe Biden out of there,” Aspinall urged. “Stick me in.”
