Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Freddie Freeman has a hairline fracture in his right middle finger but is determined to play through the injury. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed the news on Monday night, stating that Freeman sustained the injury while fielding a ground ball in a recent game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Despite initial X-rays coming back negative, a subsequent CT scan confirmed the fracture. However, Freeman insisted that he could play through the pain and was included in the lineup for Monday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners.
In other team news, the Dodgers made multiple roster moves on Monday, activating third baseman Max Muncy who had been sidelined with a right oblique strain since May. They also welcomed infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman for his Dodgers debut after acquiring him from the Cardinals in a trade. The team also called up catcher Hunter Feduccia from the minors while making corresponding moves such as designating infielder Nick Ahmed for assignment and placing catcher Austin Barnes on the injured list.
Despite the challenges posed by injuries to key players, including pitcher River Ryan who requires Tommy John surgery, the Dodgers have managed to maintain their lead in the NL West division. With a record of 73-52, they are currently three games ahead of the San Diego Padres. The team continues to fight through adversity as they strive for success in the remainder of the season.
