Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Ribas Set for Rematch at UFC Tampa
Two veteran UFC strawweights, Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Ribas, are gearing up for a rematch on Dec. 14 at UFC Tampa. The highly anticipated fight will take place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., as confirmed by MMA Fighting’s Guiherme Cruz.
The previous encounter between Dern and Ribas occurred in October 2019, with Ribas emerging victorious to hand Dern her first professional MMA loss. Interestingly, their first fight also took place at Tampa’s Amalie Arena.
Dern, with a record of 14-5, is ranked No. 8 in MMA Fighting’s strawweight rankings. Known for her exceptional jiu-jitsu skills, Dern bounced back from a two-fight losing streak to secure a decision win over Loopy Godinez at UFC Abu Dhabi in August.
Ribas, boasting a record of 13-5, holds the No. 9 spot in MMA Fighting’s strawweight rankings. Following a tough decision loss to Rose Namajunas in March, Ribas is eager to return to the strawweight division. Her most recent victory came in the form of a third-round knockout of Luana Pinheiro in November.
