The Buffalo Bills made several roster moves on Tuesday morning, including placing quarterback Shane Buechele and wide receiver Chase Claypool on Injured Reserve. Additionally, wide receiver Bryan Thompson was waived with an injury designation. The team also officially announced the signings of quarterback Ben DiNucci and wide receivers Damiere Byrd and Deon Cain.

In a game against the Chicago Bears, Buechele sustained a neck injury, leading to his placement on Injured Reserve. He had limited success in the game, completing 6-of-10 passes for 53 yards with an interception, and adding 22 rushing yards on three carries.
Claypool’s season came to an end due to a turf toe injury he suffered early in training camp. Despite showing promise, he has been on multiple teams since 2022.
Thompson also suffered an injury during the preseason, specifically a hamstring injury that limited his playing time. He was not targeted in the passing game during the game he was injured in.
While the signings of DiNucci and Byrd were previously known, the addition of Deon Cain to the roster is new information. Cain, a former sixth-round pick, has had limited playing time in the NFL, accumulating nine catches for 124 yards during the 2019 season.
Editor’s note: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that Claypool could return later in the season from injured reserve. However, for this to happen, a player must be carried through roster cuts and be on the initial 53-man roster in late August.
