Phil Foden has been named the PFA Player of the Year for 2024.
This award marks the first time since 2010 that both the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year titles have been won by English players, with Wayne Rooney and James Milner being the last pair to achieve this.
Foden’s impressive performance included scoring 19 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season, contributing to his team’s fourth consecutive title win.
At just 23 years old, Foden has become the youngest player to secure six league titles. He has also previously won the YPOTY award and has recently been honored with the Premier League Player of the Season and Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards.
Only two Englishmen have been named Premier League Player of the Season, FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Player’s Player of the Year in the same season:

Foden emerged victorious over strong contenders such as Erling Haaland, Rodri, Martin Odegaard, Palmer, and Ollie Watkins to claim the award.
Expressing his gratitude, Foden stated, “To win this award is something very special and it is one that I am very proud of and grateful for. To be recognized this way by your fellow professionals means everything and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me. Last season was another very special one for everyone at the club, but now all our focus is concentrated on trying to achieve more success this term.”
Additionally, Khadija Shaw of Manchester City and Grace Clinton of Manchester United were honored with the women’s awards. Shaw, named Player of the Year, played a pivotal role in City’s second-place finish in the Women’s Super League, scoring 21 goals in 18 games. Clinton, who was on loan at Tottenham, guided Spurs to the FA Cup final, scoring four goals and providing four assists throughout the campaign.
