Gerald Meerschaert made history at UFC Vegas 96 by securing a spot in UFC history and earning an extra $50,000 in the process.
Meerschaert’s second-round submission of Edmen Shahbazyan not only earned him Performance of the Night honors but also helped him surpass Anderson Silva for the most finishes in UFC middleweight history with 12. This bonus marked Meerschaert’s fifth post-fight bonus in his UFC career.
The event took place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
Other bonus winners included Caio Borralho, Jared Cannonier, and Michael Morales.
Borralho and Cannonier received Fight of the Night honors for their intense five-round battle, which Borralho won by unanimous decision. Morales also received a Performance of the Night bonus for his first-round knockout of Neil Magny.
Each of the bonus winners took home an additional $50,000 for their outstanding performances.
