The lineup for the Presidents Cup is taking shape as the automatic qualification period has come to a close. The top six golfers from both the United States and International teams have secured their spots based on their performance in the FedEx Cup standings or the Official World Golf Rankings. The team captains will soon make their selections to complete the 12-man rosters after the Tour Championship concludes.
On the U.S. side, Scottie Scheffler led the pack with an impressive season, followed by Xander Schauffele who had a strong showing at major championships. Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, and Sahith Theegala rounded out the automatic qualifiers for the United States team.
Hideki Matsuyama topped the international team’s qualification list, with Tom Kim, Sungjae Im, Ben An, Jason Day, and Adam Scott also earning their spots. The team captains, Jim Furyk and Mike Weir, are set to reveal their captain’s picks on Sept. 3.
The Presidents Cup is scheduled to begin on Sept. 26 at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec, Canada. The competition between American and non-European international golfers serves as a counterpart to the Ryder Cup, with the United States team boasting a strong record of nine consecutive wins.
