The San Francisco Giants are facing an uncertain future after a disappointing three-year stretch. General manager Farhan Zaidi and first-year manager Bob Melvin are under scrutiny, and the team’s roster is facing significant challenges.

In a competitive National League West, the Giants currently have the fourth-best roster. However, star pitcher Blake Snell is set to become a free agent, leaving a void in the pitching rotation. Additionally, third baseman Matt Chapman, a key player for the team, is expected to test free agency.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, Chapman is likely to opt out of his current contract and explore other options in free agency. The Giants are eager to keep him but will need to offer a substantial contract to secure his services.

Chapman, having a standout season, is a valuable asset for the Giants both defensively and offensively. His potential departure would leave a significant gap in the team’s lineup for the upcoming season.

Despite the uncertainties, the Giants are keen on retaining Chapman to bolster their lineup for the 2025 season. His presence is crucial for the team’s success moving forward.
