Erik ten Hag explains why he substituted Casemiro during Manchester United’s 3-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday. According to the manager, it was a tactical decision to take risks while chasing the game.

Casemiro had a difficult first half, losing possession twice, which allowed Luis Diaz to score two goals for Liverpool. He was replaced by Toby Collyer at halftime, but Manchester United couldn’t turn the game around, with Mohamed Salah adding another goal.

Ten Hag praised his team’s fighting spirit and emphasized the need to stick together in challenging times. He mentioned that taking risks was necessary when trailing against a strong opponent like Liverpool.

Ten Hag expressed confidence in Casemiro’s abilities and character, stating that the midfielder will bounce back from this setback and continue to contribute positively to the team’s performance.

Despite the defeat, Manchester United will look to improve in the upcoming matches after the international break, starting with a visit to Southampton.

Reflecting on the game, Ten Hag acknowledged the team’s mistakes and Liverpool’s clinical finishing. He highlighted the need to address individual errors and work on defensive improvements moving forward.

The manager emphasized the importance of learning from the defeat and staying united as a team to overcome challenges in the remainder of the season.
