Los Angeles Clippers Coach Ty Lue Confident Kawhi Leonard Will Be Ready for Training Camp
Los Angeles Clippers coach Ty Lue recently sat down with ESPN for an interview, where he provided an update on star forward Kawhi Leonard’s health. Lue expressed confidence that Leonard, who dealt with knee issues last season, will be fully prepared for the upcoming training camp. The Clippers are scheduled to commence their camp on Oct. 1 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Lue shared, “I speak to him all the time. He’ll be ready for [Clippers] training camp. He’s feeling good and I know he’ll be ready for training camp.”
Leonard’s performance last season was impressive until knee problems resurfaced, causing him to miss several games towards the end of the regular season and the playoffs. Despite attempting to play through the pain, Leonard was unable to perform at his best and had to sit out for the remainder of the playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks.
During July, Leonard was part of the mini camp with Team USA but had to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances. Clippers president Lawrence Frank expressed disappointment with the decision and emphasized Leonard’s commitment to the Olympics.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Leonard’s health will be crucial for the Clippers, especially after losing Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency. Lue remains optimistic about the team’s prospects and is determined to prove doubters wrong.
The Clippers are set to kick off their season on Oct. 23 against the Phoenix Suns in their new arena.
