Not too long ago, the Chicago Bulls were riding high. As of February 24, 2022, they were leading the Eastern Conference with a record of 39-21 (.650) and had just completed a six-game winning streak.
However, since then, the Bulls have struggled, winning just over 46 percent of their games. Injuries and inconsistency have plagued the team, leading to more disappointments than successes.
Head coach Billy Donovan has faced numerous challenges and is currently under scrutiny, having only reached the playoffs once in four seasons.
According to Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale, the blame for the team’s shortcomings falls on the Bulls front office. Favale is critical of the team’s offseason moves, expressing little optimism for the future.
The Bulls lost key players like DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso, acquiring Josh Giddey in return. The uncertainty surrounding Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic’s futures adds to the team’s woes.
Favale is unimpressed by the addition of Giddey, citing concerns about his age and potential flaws.
Furthermore, Favale criticizes the Bulls for failing to secure a first-round draft pick in exchange for Caruso or DeRozan, settling for a 2031 pick swap with the Sacramento Kings.
Summing up the Bulls’ offseason, Favale describes it as “generational incompetence,” highlighting the team’s inability to achieve success in recent years.
This assessment may seem harsh, but it reflects the reality of an organization that has not won 50 games or a playoff series since the 2014-15 season.
